CHANNA DHAL . PAPAD CURRY(KOOTU) AND KAJU KATRI'S SISTER

In tamil we called it as "Appalam poo kootu".In goes well with karakuzhambhu.

INGREDIENTS
:

Fried papad - 6(If big make it into 4pieces)

Channa Dhal -1cup

Potato - 1 medium

Tumeric - 1/4tsp

Chilli powder - 1/2tsp(optional)

Salt- As per taste

SEASIONING:

Mustard
Broken urad dhal
Curry leaves
Hing
Dried red chilli - 1 big

METHOD:

Boil potato and channa dhal with little Tumeric, chilli.powder&salt in water.

Make boiled potato into medium size bits ,allow the mixture to cook for some time till it becomes little thick, now add the fried papads.

Finally add Seasioning and stir well...off the stove.

Now i like to share KAJU KATRI'S SISTER:))

My Niece b'day is on 16th Dec.As they are coming here to celebrate her b'day. So i thought let me prepare 2 sweets.

First one was Jamun, which has come well..Second was Kaju katri. After seeing in Prema's and Pooja's i got more enthu to try soon...I ended up in Kaju Katri's sister..

Finally taste is very good and it is like cashew burfi...

Is this papad curry the same as appala kootu. Looks very delicious. I was impressed by your Kaju Katri's sister too. If you could share your experience in detail maybe I can avoid doing those mistakes.

Hi Rak's Kitchen,

Thanks alot pa...Yes they are comingn today night from Virginia....not very grand all..just her parents(mysister&mama)her chittappa&chithi(Myself and myhubby).

USHA said...

Hi Kribha,
Yes pa....you are right..it is same as appalam poo kottu.

Actually i followed same as Pooja's and Prema's but i didn;t get that dought consistency...it was very dry and splited(due to lack of wetness)....colour also not very pure white(due to over roasted little bit i guess...

Then i added little milk, it got into form like thick halwa....then i got hope, was stirring continuously...got nice consistency...pured into greased pan.
Believe me taste is really excellent...even i was able to make into diamond shape, the texture is similiar to any milk peda sweet like that...

I remember my mom used to prepare papad kuzumbu Usha. Kootu is also a nice idea. With the urad dhal flavor no doubt it will be tasty. Kaju sweet is so perfect in shape. A fraction of second is the difference in cooking between two. That's why we miss it. But it is so rich and perfect. Hope you had a nice time with her on her birthday. Take care and write to me. Viji

USHA said...
